Top Schools in the Area

Quality educational facilities make neighborhoods more desirable. There’s nothing like a good path to college and careers to complement an area’s comfort, safety, and health.

We are proud to cover an area where good neighborhoods are in close proximity to top-ranked schools. Kitsap County, Pierce County, and southern portion of King County are home to 12 of the state’s finest secondary schools, according to the US News & World Report’s 2017 Best High Schools list.

The ratings are based on graduation rates, enrollment, student diversity, access to lunch subsidies, and the results of state-commissioned assessments, Advanced Placement exams, and International Baccalaureate tests.

  1. Franklin Pierce High School
    Tacoma, Pierce County
    Ranked #19 in Washington, #1711 in the US

    Located at the Midland Area, this four-year high school offers more than an exemplary academic program. It also boasts a rich musical tradition, with choral and band performances a staple in its yearly events calendars.

  2. Vashon Island High School
    Vashon Island, King County
    Ranked #20 in Washington, #1726 in the US

    This Blue Ribbon School is the only secondary school serving Vashon Island. Off-island students attend this high school despite being accessible only by ferries.

  3. Gig Harbor High School
    Gig Harbor, Pierce County
    Ranked #21 in Washington, #1731 in the US

    Established in 1978, Gig Harbor High offers an excellent complement of extra-curricular activities, such as a competitive Speech and Debate team, various musical bands, and athletics teams.

  4. Kentridge High School
    Kent, King County
    Ranked #22 in Washington, #1750 in the US

    Located in southern King County, Kentridge High is the second oldest high school in the Kent School District. Its excellent athletics programs have produced several major league professional athletes.

  5. Kingston High School
    Kingston, Kitsap County
    Ranked #23 in Washington, #1755 in the US

    This Kitsap County school’s campus is organized around four neighborhoods. Its facilities include a 47-kilowatt solar panel system.

  6. Stadium High School
    Tacoma, Pierce County
    Ranked #24 in Washington, #1759 in the US

    In addition to being a top-rated secondary school, Stadium High is a historic landmark. Its construction dates way back to 1891 and has since undergone several restoration and renovation projects.

  7. Bonney Lake High School
    Bonney Lake, Pierce County
    Ranked #26 in Washington, #1907 in the US

    Bonney Lake High opened in 2005. It has since been one of Washington’s perennial top-ranked secondary schools, due in large part to its diverse academic and extra-curricular engagement programs.

  8. North Kitsap High School
    Poulsbo, Kitsap County
    Ranked #27 in Washington, #1925 in the US

    North Kitsap High boasts a beautiful campus that features refreshing landscaping to accommodate an inspiring learning environment. It appears on the US News & World Report rankings for the third consecutive year.

  9. White River High School
    Buckley, Pierce County
    Ranked #31 in Washington, #2301 in the US

    The White River High campus is designed to highlight five career paths – arts and communications, business and marketing, engineering and technology, health and human services, and science and natural resources.

  10. Washington High School
    Tacoma, Pierce County
    Ranked #33 in Washington, #2338 in the US

    Named after the country’s first president, Washington High offers Advanced Placement courses in Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, Literature, History, Physics, and Statistics.

  11. Wilson High School
    Tacoma, Pierce County
    Ranked #35 in Washington, #2436 in the US

    Another Tacoma-based high school named after a US president, Wilson High is one of five public comprehensive high schools in the Tacoma Public School District.

  12. Thomas Jefferson High School
    Auburn, Pierce County
    Ranked #50 in Washington and is nationally recognized

    With a student population of around 1,800, Jefferson High is one of the largest public high schools in the state in terms of enrollment. The home of the Raiders offers the International Baccalaureate program, with options for either a full diploma course or certificate courses for specific subjects.
